I've done both fuddle, but the family preferred the leeks encased in the suet pastry. Always served with mince and plenty of gravy.
Yes I do believe it is North Eastern in origin.
Hope your family enjoy it.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
I didn't know about the vinegar tenderising tip. Thank you!
AOT I think leek pudding originates from your neck o' woods. Do you mix the leek in the suet or encase it with the suet? I've mixed all mine in the hope it will go down better with the children people.
Fuddle - try THIS as wellMust use my stash up!0 -
AOT - I hope the surgery goes well - I was told I needed it in both wrists about 20 years ago, I decided to put it off as long as possible......I know I will need it done in the next few years as I'm suffering more and more but I'm still a big wuss.
I'd never heard of leek pudding - sounds lovely. I shall have to give it a go.
I made "chuck it in" burritos for tea - 2 chopped cold sausages, a slice of left over gammon, tin of kidney beans, onion and a pepper.....all cooked off with some herbs and chilli, mixed with a pack of cheapy rice from approved foods.....wrapped up and topped with cheese - under the grill until bubbly - ruddy gorgeous!!!! It made 6 huge burritos, we had one and a half each and will have the rest for lunch tomorrow....Yum!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
I had to scrap the windscreen to take DD to school this morning! It warmed up later but was a bit of a shock to my system.
DD had Speech and Lang therapist in first thing so I stayed but she was so 'off' her normal form I decided to declare her poorly and take her home - she was pale and her co-ordination and concentration was shot and her eyes were going in opposite directions (literally). She confirmed what I thought by going straight upstairs and then coming back down to watch cbeebies with her best beloved bed toy, puppy, who has not been downstairs in a long time. She pulled herself together a bit mid afternoon so we made a couple of pieces of felt. Hope she feels better tomorrow but will have to wait and see.
Hugs to all - Hx0 -
Stilty hope little lady is feeling better tomorrow. Dgs had bug and kept falling asleep inschool then being rescued by Mummy. It was mystery to the teachers until his little friend Eric did the same this week - obviously a bug!
Hubby is having a weary week so plans changed and I have been knitting at the rate of knots. Still not done the sewing I intended to do but hey ho.
I hve lost 2 and a half stone since since august so my clothes are held up with duct tape and clothes pegs but dont want to buy any new ones yet. Feeling much more like the old Ginny and hopefully will be able to cope with Oh nd Dgs better now.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Well done on the weight loss Ginny - and hope your DGS is better now.
Little Miss Stilty is a bit better today but kept her home as she is still much more wobbly than usual, and her eyes are still all over the place. Puppy stayed upstairs in bed though so deffo on the mend. So will do some numbers and typing today so she's not missing out entirely, but think we may also do some felt this afternoon as well though as she's going through another felt phase after being inspired at Yarndale.
Going to have to nip to Mr Ts though for more lunch stuff as I'd not bargain on an extra mouth for yesterday and today so running low on bread and fillings.
Catch you all later - Hx0 -
Last day of sunny weather here today. It looks like it is going to set in from tomorrow. If the night temp drop in the house I will let the water into the living room radiator and hopefully that will be enough to keep us ok for the next month. I really don't want to pump the hot water into bedrooms yet - although I may have to allow the bathroom towel rail to heat up. I have accrued £173 in credit with electricity but want to try to hang onto it as much as I can.
Salmon, brocolli and mashed potato for tea but the girls aren't getting salmon, but salmon trimmings. Is it really bad to get the grown ups decent stuff and fob the kiddlers with something cheap? I feel so bad but they like the trimmings and wouldn't appreciate a nice piece of fish.
I am working tonight but only 7-10pm. I'm looking forward to my weekend off. Lyn and I are meeting up in Ikea tomorrow where we will natter, sup tea and look and buy useful stuff. Lyn I need storage jars, tealights, a £3 stool and catalogue. See you in the morning!0 -
Hi all, sorry some of you are feeling very well at the moment. I finally have a day off, spent the entire morning cleaning and pegging washing out. The local council worker came and decided the shower in the bathroom has died, so a new one will be put in on Monday - shocking as I usually end up waiting a week or more!!! Then another company came in and serviced the gas boiler. All ok so that's sorted for another year.
I am currently struggling a bit with the amount of responsibility that I have been given at work, I have already had to take a phone call from them today. As much as I love my job, sometimes I wonder if I have bitten off more than I can chew.
FUDDLE, wow sounds like a fun day out - I love ikea but our nearest one here is a good couple of hours drive away. If you get a spare catalogue please can you send me one - I can give you the postage money. Lynn hope you enjoy the meet up, if you get there early enough they give free tea, or they did last time I managed to go.
Stiltwalker, your right there are lots of bugs around at the moment. One that's doing its round here make you completely worn out and all cold n shivery. Hope the little miss feels better soon.
Buddie the puppy is currently sitting the doorway where the sun light is streaming through. He is sunbathing with his paws in the air!!! he looks lovely and sweet x
