Use your mobile phone as a modem - either bluetooth or cable connection from the phone to your lappy - to connect to the internet

Try t-mobile web'n'walk - on pay and go its a maximum of £1/day for 1GB of data

    Free tmobile sims - http://www.t-mobilesimgiveaway.co.uk/?WT.mc_id=ON_QM_A_BuyAT

AHA thank you for that albertross, but i am fortunate in the fact that i work from home (by the sea and i mean BY the sea) so it is not all pervasive.I like to keep in touch with home and my websites even though i'm only off to a neighbouring island.

Ive had a look at web n walk usb modems for my laptop, but that dosn't appear to be available on PAYG

Do they have wireless hotpsots on the island you are going to?

If not, you may be able to use a mobile network data card, but they aren't cheap.
