Shower running hot then cold ..help?

Options
Hi
I have a combi boiler downstairs in kitchen, the shower is upstairs in bathroom and is the mixer tap type (you know ...you pull the thing on the mixer tap and the water comes out the shower head instaed of taps....ok not much hope for me is there???!!!)
problem is that while having a shower the water changes from hot to cold and is driving me mad..... the pressure seems ok, but I usually put the hot water tap on full then the cold water a tiny bit, tiny adjustment on the cold tap will make the water freezing or boiling! Its becoming a full time job to get the temp right but then it changes during the shower

Obviously being MSE'r I want to use the shower instead of bath !

can anybody give me a clue as to what i need to look at? is it water pressure? do i need to get a pump? a temp thingy?! lol

help coz this steep learning curve getting too steep !
so far this year I have fixed my toilet, changed a flow valve on my boiler.. wish I had trained as a plumber!

thanks

Good evening: My OH, Corgi Guy, is the plumber in the family here in Thanet but I'll have a go! It sounds as if you would benefit from having your manual mixer changed for a thermostatic bath-shower mixer: it will maintain a steady flow of water at a comfortable temperature despite slight variations in hot and cold water pressures. Here is just one example http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?id=78538&ts=54620

Hi again...you're welcome! I would recommend this product (much cheaper;) http://www.thanetbathroomstore.com/?sid=6125&cid=4139 We used one in our last renovation. You should be able to find it at your local independent plumbers' merchants and online. I know you can get it at Morris and Turner in Chatham as well as TKM in Deal and here in Planet Thanet (I see from your tagline we share the same county.)

Hi Andy: We didn't know about the shop until last year when the OH needed a gas spare (quickly!)...looked around the shop (1 minute tour as so small) and picked up catalogues. We've bought gear from Bathstore (Canterbury) but only when on offer. You can drop Corgi Guy a PM if need be.
