Hi everyone, my boyfriend and I have decided on living together. I have 3 children he doesn't have any. We are both self employed. I currently get Tax Credits and will be notifying them of change in circumstances when my boyfriend moves in. Although we will be living together as a family we prefer to keep our personal business finances private from each other. Is there any way we can claim tax credits without having to declare our finances to each other? From what I have seen on the form it appears per se that we have to declare our income from our business. Thanks

you will need to close your single claim down and open a new joint claim (it is not a simple change in circumstances it is a new claim)
Don't believe there is any way you can keep your single status for benefits (legally) when you are living together0 -
When you are a couple and decide to live together, that is a commitment from all parties, especially given there are children involved.
As a couple you share, the bed? The bathroom? Meals? Holidays? Intimate moments? Why not financial details and income? Really?
As you are living together, you will be assessed on your joint income.

How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?

Could you tell my wife that?0 -
It's totally up to you both to decide if you want to keep your finances seperate when you live together. However, if you still want to claim benefits for your children you will have claim as a family and so finances will need to be shared.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

If you live together but don't want to share financial details that's fine: No problem: Except some things won't be possible - like any tax credits.... and any other benefits impacted by that change of circumstance.
Your choice??
Which of you is wanting to hide what, that's what interests me...
I've lived with partners not knowing (or vv..) their full financial position: No problem, but I/we weren't claiming any affected benefits...
Cheers!0
