 I have just recieved my 1st Electricity Bill for a 2 Bedroom Flat im renting, for the period from 31st Jan to May 4th. (1 Quarter i Guess).
I dont have any Gas Appliances, All is Electric!
My Bill for this Quarter is £450
I work 6 Days a week, Play golf when im not at work, Live on my own, Im hardly at the 2 bedroom flat. I dont hardly use the lights and the heaters when i am there.. I have a water heater which is only on 1st thing in a morning and late at night...
Looking on the internet even a high usage 2 bedroom flat should average around £900 for the Year Apparently.. Mine seams to be twice that and again i stress im hardly ever there..
Only my Fridge Freezer is on during the day.. i only use the washer dryer 2 times a week..
Am I being Ripped Off?
Any Guidence Much Appreciated..
Paul.

I would hazard a guess that you are -:1. Paying a previous
Tenant's Bill or 2.Your meter is stuck on a ridiculously high rate by the
Landlord /Provider.
There are well informed experts on the Forum who will answer you in a minute, but in the meantime,i live in a bungalow with lots of Electric Apps,I am in most days, using computers, watching tele, using washing machine and
the usual lights and I'm paying Ebico £20.00 a Month.0 -
hello, i also switched to powergen about 2 months ago when there was a big fuss on TV saying that it was the cheapest,, i am now putting in £25 a week in the meter,,when it used to cost about £15,,,nothing as changed apart from me switching to these bluming ripp off's,,,,,

I bet you're seething!
Was the metre read accurately or is the bill based on wildly inflated estimates ?
For comparison my Scottish Power Economy 7 tariff is : day - 8.695p per kWh
night - 4.178p per kWh; Standing Charge 19.04p per day.
When I switched they promised I would save money - but guess what....?
Hope you sort it out.0 -
Hi Paul, is this bill estimated or is it calculated from your own meter reading? I suggest reading your meter and giving them a reading. My last bill from Powergen was an estimated bill and I was shocked to receive a bill for £172 (i live in a studio flat). I work all day and only use minimal electricity. I read my meter and gave it to Powergen which then deducted my bill £72.:money:paulbruk07 wrote: » I have just recieved my 1st Electricity Bill for a 2 Bedroom Flat im renting, for the period from 31st Jan to May 4th. LOOKS TO ME LIKE THE SECOND RATE on the meter has been over estmated-would suggest you ring them and book a read-once your meter been located take weekly reads and do a pro rata calculation to see if correct -not sure what you meant by water heating property-surely electric or gas heats the water21k savings no debt0

Yes Its an Electric Water Heater.. It Comes on 1st thing in the monring on a timer and late at night to provide me with hot water.. although the heater is turned on all day.. its not active most of the day.. (similar to a pilot light for gas)
Hope that helps..0 -
Looks to be estimated so get a reading in to them quick ....did you take a meter reading when you moved in so you now what the start reading was? they may have estimated on the previous tennants usage ....the only other thing I can think of is your heating electric as well ...this would bump up the bill a lot.
Also try and see if you can use an online tariff as this will save money as well0 -
Forgot to mention this is a new build, No Tennant before me,
What i find confusing from those readings is this.
The primary units reading started at 2852. (Ended at 3035)
The Secondary Unit reading started at only 110 hence a big jump to 4265 (which is the majority of my Bill)
Does that sound right?
would there be such a massive difference in starting readings?
My Problem is i didnt do the original readings, I`ll have to ask my letting agent where the meter is..0 -
OMG !!!
I freaked cos my electric bill was £ 133.00 for the quarter and I live in a 4 bedroom house. Albeit only 2 bedrooms are used. But having a teenager at home then everything is on all the time ... TV, DVD, Stereo, Hairdryer, Straighteners, Ipod Player, Lamps ... need I go on !No Signature Required ......0
