Car Insurance - convictions during cover?

Just a quick query about car insurance.

When OH renewed his car insurance policy in Feb 2013 he declared accurately the 2 speeding convictions he had (from 3 yrs ago)

He recently received another SP30 & 3 points (drives many thousands of miles for work...but a fair cop)

And, to his shame an on the spot fine for not wearing a seatbelt but no points ( in his HGV whilst multi-dropping...he erroneously thought this was not illegal - but another fair cop)

So does ne need to contact his car insurance company at this stage to record these? Or will it be sufficient to wait until he renews. Don't really want to invoke additional unnesssary premiums on top of the fines.......unless it would invalidate any future claim.

Many Thanks

Check the policy wording. Some require immediate notification whilst others don't want it till renewal.
