Thanks for the info. The way Tesco took my money five days earlier, I might need this service. The money was taken on 25 June whilst the statement clearly states 30 June 2013, leaving my account in red. How nasty is that. Already Tesco gave us the shortest payment time. You get your statement on about 15 and you have to pay 25 of the same month. If they had printed 25 June, they should not have taken it on 30 as it might incur a fine of £25! When I phoned them, they said they DID NOT have the money and that my bank is still keeping the money. They told me to phone my bank. My bank said they took the money on 25 June and the money had left my account. Anybody having the same predicament????? Any discussion will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. I asked for an overdraft from my bank straight away. It is not a joke. You know why Tesco is always late paying their suppliers causing them to block their depot!

Was this an offer they sent you? For new customers? Existing cardholders?

If the payment was taken by Direct Debit and not within the dates mentioned on the statement then you have a valid claim under the Direct Debit Guarantee - though you still have to meet that payment obligation.. What is the exact wording on the statement?

I know my mbna\virgin says on or after 15/June..

If the due date is that close to your pay day (assume this as you were overdrawn then), why not ask to change the statement date & so move the due date so that it comes out on more convenient date.

If you pay in full by direct debit, Tesco takes this 5 days before the due date. This is written on your statement. Min or fixed payments are taken on the due date.

Yes they credit the pmt on the account when the DD request is made, but they still should not physically remove the funds before the date they quote on the statement - this is under the DD Guarantee, so best for the OP to confirm if contradicts the statement instruction.. although the OP would still have the payment to make it may help if that early claim had knock on affect to other bills..

It would seem the OP has the payment date close to there pay date (since they went od) so may also be a better idea that the get the statement and due date moved back so that it doesnt fall just before and catch them out again..

Obvious by OP I mean thread hijacker that that this has shifted towards..
