Newport

Options
Hello,

My name is Chris and I would like to ask about the Newport area north off Chepstow Road. I want to buy a property, small 1 bed flat, but I am confused about the bad ratings this area receives.
I know there are many council houses in this borough, but my impression from the north part off the main street are very nice.
Should I be worried? Its close to gas station/Tesco express.
I currently live in Richmond, London but I can not afford anything in London and find Wales very lovely.... also I've seen parts of London I wouldn't live even if it was for free anyway...
Thanks in advance

I'd say you're right. I'm from newport and north of Chepstow road is definitely better than sound of Chepstow road in that area.

The are you mention is a relatively new estate and although its not classed as a good part of newport you can do a lot worse. The further up that hill you go the better to be honest (I'm just talking about that area mind)

As further along Chepstow road the opposite happens IMO

Why don't you rent so you can take stock of the area personally??

  • Hello,

Thank you for help. I hope I am not doing a mistake, but I have a limited budget and I don't want to continue wasting money only in rent in London, since half of them are gone.
I hope the area might not be expensive or something, but the houses looks nice and clean and hopefully the people will be good and friendly.
I visited some other properties on Commercial Road, Temple Street and they were a lot more unappealing to me, even though being a lot bigger and cheaper.

So are you planning on living in Newport or just buying a BTL?
