I'd respect these people more if they were more inventive with their excuses.
What about 'my house is haunted and the ghost bid on my behalf'.
That would be different, and slightly more believable than the two year old managing to enter a valid bid and press bid now.Early retired - 18th December 2014

I use to think this was a rubbish excuse until last week...
While my son was at school i was looking at some very overpriced sockets, he came home went on the tablet to play games and clicked eBay app and then clicked buy it now on the sockets. He told me he bought them for me as he saw i had been looking at them.
I did feel bad explaining to the seller and was sure they thought i was lyingWins 2014 - ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVYXYZ

I got the excuse that my 'buyer's' sister bid by accident and didn't expect to win sighNo you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

The ghost one has been usedIt was a while ago but if i remember the thread on the community boards it was long and involved and absolutely hilarious--with buyer in a strop about a spirit in his house hiding his socks and bidding on ebay!

I am surprised that with all the issues surrounding hacking and potential issues that someone would not keep their computer/tablet whatever secure. If you are so lax that someone can use your tablet to buy on ebay, which is a two or three step process, how can you be sure other people won't be clicking on dodgy links or running amuck with your bank details.
I cannot be the only one who takes their security seriously, can I ?

It just shows there is no such thing as a new excuse, they've all been done before!Early retired - 18th December 2014

I opened the NPB case on 20th so should be able to close it soon.
If buyer had just said 'look I am really sorry I got carried away and have changed my mind' or something along those lines I would have sent a cancellation request and a 2nd chance offer.
But she waited 4 days to tell me and then came up with this lame excuse - sorry but I just don't believe her.0 -

Its still a rubbish excuse - as i would have paid for them - as would most decent Ebayers.0
