OP has agreed a settlement already, I think.0 -
Wow just read this story, glad it all worked out in the end.
There's a couple of things in the story I find don't add up.
As mentioned in an earlier post this goes on far more often than is realised.
However this seems to be an opportunistic one off fraud by this fake solicitor. Also it's too much of a coincidence that the vendor went bankrupt while this was going on.
It seems to me this was all set up by the vendor all along.0 -

Hi Yorkie and Propertyfan,
Yes a settlement has been agreed. As for those who stole our funds - they are still lurking and remain to be caught.

You may be correct in my case, however I'm not certain. According to my LS (who has some experience with these type of scammers), what the frauds can do is potentially set up a number of property sales with close completion dates, and then potentially scam a bunch of people at the same time. and then disappear. The vendor being in the process of being made bankrupt (and not being open about it - note: the vendor was in the process of being made bankrupt, not actually declared bankrupt) certainly does not look good for him, but as this is an active investigation I'm not going to speculate.thequant wrote:However this seems to be an opportunistic one off fraud by this fake solicitor.
