Rescinded Through CO-OP :-)

Firstly, apolgies if this should be posted elsewhere...

It seems that by virtue of the fact that Co-OP have informed CE Ltd to cancel a PCN that was recently issued to my vehicle, that it is well worth complianing to the relevant retailer.

In fairness, Co-Op have redeemed themselves fully in my case. In an email to them, I simply referred to my belief that an alleged overstay of 20 minutes and a subsequent pentalty of £45 does not justify or accurately represent any financial loss incurred to the store. I then made reference to co-op's reputation of ethics and fairness, qualities that (in my opinion) CE Ltd have failed to demonstrate. I concluded by questioning whether the potential risk to reputation that certain enforcement companies pose is actually proportionate to the finacial benefits experienced by the retailers...Their response was to not only request the PCN be cancelled but to apologise for the manner in which I was treated. There is potentially further ramifications arising from my complaint, but I dont wish to speculate as to what that may be at this time. Co-op customer services have provided an excellent service They actually listen and respond.:T

Anyway, to save a long story, have hope and dont write of the importance of sending an appeal in to the retailer.

Thanks for your help too Stroma.

I'm far from an expert at this kind of thing, but I will (as long as it's not treading on anyone's toes) offer advice should you wish to hear it.

Well done by the way :)
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

You are very welcome here all the time and you have the kind of experience that newbies will find useful, since many fake PCNs are issued to innocent shoppers going about their normal lives, not expecting to suddenly receive a fake 'fine'.

Please do stick around and offer advice.

We are all only here because we have had fake PCNs ourselves and/or think the whole PPC World industry is an utter disgrace.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Well done you, and well done Coop. In somewhat stark contrast to the attitude and (template) response of Aldi FB.

Coop is much more likely to get my business in future. :)

  • Very interesting thread - I have been told by the representative of Euan Sutherland the CEO of Co-op that they have no power to rescind parking tickets so clearly their ethics are wearing thin. They are clearly now realising there are so many unhappy customers and parking fines appear to be the only way they are making money these days? I am more furious that a company that have such 'ethical' values actually care nothing for the innocent shoppers who fall victim to the activities of a bunch of cowboys in this case UKCPS!

So toby79 I am afraid I have to disagree and say that you were lucky and their attitude is not consistent - they don't listen and Mr Sutherland does not care and he would rather fall in with the thieves than his customers. I for one will not be buying anything else in Coop and have lost all faith in their ethical roots. A valuable lesson learnt!

Of course they "have the power". It's them who hired the PPC.
