Housing dilemma

I want to stay and get planning permission to extend. Hubby wants to sell and buy a 4 bed in either the village we are in now or near to the special needs school we are looking to send our youngest son too which would mean moving our 2 older children's schools too. There are no suitable houses we like within 1/2 mile of suitable schools for elder 2 and we have to be more than 2 miles from the special school to get transport provided. I don't drive and hubby works full time so school runs are upto me.

Anyone got any advice or been through similar cos this is driving me crazy:D

Could you rent whilst the work is being done?

Just thinking the mess and disruption might be very difficult to deal with.

It's an option but not sure how easy that would be to sort tbh. During the work the kitchen bathroom and living room are unaffected and 2 of the 3 bedrooms won't be touched. The bedroom affected would only be for last few weeks of build which means lots of stuff to go in loft and 3 kids sleeping in one room or eldest can sleep on sofa bed. I think it's a hassle but doable and will be worth it in the end to get a house to our own design

The ways cuts are happening - who is to say there will still be funded school transport in a couple of years ........it might be a strategy that works now but may cause bigger problems later .......Would you not consider learning to drive and broaden your options ?

Yes I will be learning to drive once he is settled at school. I have tried to learn twice and struggle so may take me a while so we can't rely on it

The school he will go to is on 2 sites 3 miles apart and could move to either on a yearly basis based on which best suits his needs at that time....that is causing an issue
