i've had a lump sum in a discretionary share dealing fund for 10 years it's provided an income of 250 pounds a month while i've been traveling africa.on my return the portfolio was valued at 300 k i'm a bit disapointed with its growth given the global economic boom any ideas what i should do,i've looked through the statements and cant seem to find the annual fee charged by the dealing company anyone have a clue on their costs?.also i've not had any dealings with the tax office or an accountant since the 'claim for repayment' got scraped in 99(approx) .i have no other income besides the 250 a month.would they owe money or vice versa?

Have they given you a breakdown of transaction charges? How much did you invest in the first place? Have there been many purchases/sales?0

Since you are a returning expat (tax!) and the sum involved is significant you should see a good IFA ASAP.
Are you saying you only made 3k (12 x 250) on 300k per annum (1%), without any significant capital appreciation? If yes, then it sucks!
Some of the things you should consider are tax-free investments including ISA's and National Savings. I would also suggest that you consider a diversified portfolio. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0
