Cash Converters

Options
Somehow I never knew they existed until last week. I was Googling a camera lens I wasn't familiar with and one came up for sale.

There seem to be several ways of buying items. Instant at the asking price, bid or make me an offer. Not all items are available all three ways.

I've just gotten some DVDs online from Cash Converters and there's a Cash Converters store in a town I have to visit next week. So I was thinking of sorting out some of ours and taking with me to sell.

My question is how does the seller get the dosh ? Do you get the amount minus commission when sold or do you get an amount upfront in the shop ? Do you have to have Paypal ?

If you've used them what did you sell and get a reasonable amount of money ? Or if you bought, did you get any bargains ?

    Aren't they a pawn shop?

Yeah basically it is a Pawn Shop. You can pawn stuff, or just sell them things.

You take your stuff to them, they give you money if they buy it. Don't expect to get what you're looking at price wise. You will get a pittance for what they will sell it for. You get money when they take the item, it's not a bid/ebay typed business.

Always always always check and recheck anything you buy there to make sure it's decently working.

Cash convertors in my town pay 20p for all single dvds and £1-2 for box sets.
Your best best is selling on ebay or try cex as there rate is quite good.

I went into my local Cash Converters in Huntingdon for the first time this week, I was quite pleasantly surprised as the ones I had been into in North London were grim, to say the least.

So pleased was I that I mistakenly bought two identical box sets, thinking that I was buying two parts of the same season. Berk.

I was hoping to get 50p each but 20p isn't worth it, might as well keep them because it was a big pile to cart about.

One is Argo which I bought new last week and we were watching it last night thinking how the F did this win two Oscars, it's like a really bad made-for-TV movie. :(

I bought a violin online from Cash Converters and yes I have checked it over thoroughly thanks ;) and very pleased actually, was a bargain. I got it for 50% less than the same violin in a violin dealers.

Waiting for some DVDs ATM as they are cheaper than Oxfam (I did make me an offer) but the postage can be steep if they come from different shops. I will look at them carefully and if they don't play they are going back !

If you wanted to trade them in for other dvds then go to cex`s website and see how much they can offer you on each dvd. They give good exchange rates :) Just avoid there online service as it is shocking!

Some of the stuff there is good, but always check it well especially electrical items. My best buy was a leather smart cover for the ipad 2 not long after they came out at £15 because it had a teeny blemish on the front. Stuck a sticker on it, and bargain was had!

Just some others are a bit overpriced for not usually looked after goods.

My nearest Cash Converters got shut down after several police visits when they found stolen property.

    Overpriced stuff, Lots of that.

Occasionally some fairly new stuff. Order something expensive from a catalogue and sell it then keep moving when the debt collectors come calling.
I overheard one guy bragging about doing this several times.
