cycle scheme

I was employed on a permanent contract but still on my probationary period when i was allowed to join the cycle scheme. Then released from employment when still on my probationary period and then made to pay the whole amount for bike. £500 taken out of my leaving wages. I feel i was "mis sold" the scheme as i shouldnt of been allowed on it in the 1st place (me thinks) - please see: the cycle scheme web site and the faqs. where it states the following:

Who can use Cyclescheme?
Employees paying tax through PAYE, who have a contract that outlasts the duration of the salary sacrifice period are eligible and have completed the employer's probationary period (if applicable).

Comments please, as bike is brand new, only had it 2 months. Now out of work and no money!!
Sigh!!

These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

Had a look at your link and I can't see this quote. Am I using the right website?

I am presuming they have allowed you to keep the bike so suggest that you sell it to recoup some of the money.

I haven't checked the details, but if that is the case you would have a good case. The problem wiith selling it is that you will immediately make a loss, particularly as there are additional costs imposed by the scheme administrators and the bikes themselves aren't discounted as might often be the case if you were buying new.

I think there has been a thread about the scheme on the Public Transport board, so there are probably more informed people there who might be able to help.
