Is My Cheque Book Still Valid?

Hey guys,
As one who doesn't really use cheques these days I dug out my pristine cheque book today and noticed that it still has Abbey branding.
The account is still active and I need to send a cheque tomorrow, so I need to know if I can still use this cheque book. None of my real life friends can answer this, so I'm asking the wonderful MSE bods for their advice.
Thanks in advance
Kate

I think the only way to get the definitive answer to this question is to contact your bank.
Don't even know where my cheque book is !!!0 -

I think as long as the sortcode and account number on the cheque match your Santander account then it should work.
The banks don't really go off what the logo is on the cheque, just the sortcode and account number are valid ones when the cheque will be cashed.
Though I seem to recall I was sent out new ones even though I don't use them with the santander branding.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
I'm still using Alliance and Leicester cheques on my Santander account without problem.
The sort code is different - but the underlying account number hasn't changed0 -
Thanks for the replies everyone.
I managed to get past the automated hell that is Santander's call centre and they have confirmed they are still valid.

I recently dug out an old cheque book and wrote a cheque. Even though I had to cross out the pre-printed "19__" to write the date, and even though the bank had changed its name, and moved office twice from the address printed on the cheque, it went through fine.
Sort code and account number is what matters!0
