Hi guys, I have found a job in a school working as an
Receptionist/Administration Assistant

and in the application pack, it has a section where it says: Other information to support your application:

I was just wondering if someone could tell me what to write in that section and possibly give me some examples?

Some info re myself.

19, achieved B in maths, A in Science and B in English GCSE stage.

Just finished my 3 year college course doing BETEC National Diploma In IT. Achieved D, D D, which is equivalent to 3 A Levels.

Worked at Marks and spencer as retail operative, and currently at Sainburys.

many thanks!

MY DRAFT:

I just don't know how to start it.

I could start off by saying, I believe I the qualities needed for the role of Receptionist and Administration Assistant. I am confident, and have the experience of being under pressure from meeting assignment deadlines in college as well as in real life work place situations such as dealing with difficult customers and finding solutions to suit the customers need.

I can meet deadlines, I can multitask very well, I am also loyal, honest, and punctuate and it brings me great satisfaction in helping others. I love working in a team and on my own. I have the ability to think creatively and to prioritise. Futhermore, I have excellent communication skills.

I posses good administrative skills, competent at at using various ICT packages.

Most importantly, I will have an commitment to (school name) aims, values as well as the objectives of its academies programme.

I think that means anything you haven't already included in your employment history or school/college qualifications

Any relevant training, awards, hobbies or special things you have done in the way of work or your personal life that would aid your application.

In an application pack I normally take that part to be the equivalent of what you would say in a cover letter.

If you give me your email address I can email what I wrote in mine, I do the same job in a school, and have recently been interviewed (5 times) and even though I didn't get the jobs I was told my application was fantastic.

Don't copy others! Its the opportunity for you to explain how you meet the criteria in the job description/person specification. So it says about being organised, use work/voluntary examples of how you can demonstrate that. Even if you have no direct work experience in that area try and think laterally - for instance I've worked with deprived areas in trying to get female BME into work for the first time and they can demonstrate things like time and budget management from things like getting kids to multiple afterschool activities and buying food on a restricted budget.

Whatever you do - get someone to proof read your application before sending it off as your draft above has a lot of mistakes that would not be picked up by a spell checker.

    Good luck and fingers crossed,

Mistakes start earlier than that even. Needs to be corrected before going anywahere.

One of the key aspects of a receptionist in a school is being able to deal with a variety of people (parents, staff, pupils, visitors) calmly and courteously, as well as having a good telephone manner.

I also absolutely agree with those who have posted above saying make sure your application has no spelling errors and is grammatically correct.

These sorts of jobs in schools attract a really good field, precisely because they are so suitable for parents with children, who want term time only and school hours. Your application has to be perfect or it will go straight in the bin.
