Use the Job Description and Person Spec to work from. Make sure you cover as many qualities as you can.

You need to sell yourself and stand out from the other applicants. Use your previous work experience to find as many of the competencies as you can, for example customer service, dealing with conflict, prioritising work loads, team work, competent with ICT packages, willingness to undertake training etc.

There's usually a section for interests/hobbies - don't put reading, socialising with friends, cinema. Try using something that could relate to the job. Are you on any committees, run a club, attend evening class, do voluntary/charity work? It gives a good insight into the kind of person you are.

Many thanks for the responses, is this fine? Would someone be kind enough to check over spelling? many thanks.

I possess a wide range of qualities that I believe would make me an ideal candidate needed for the role of Receptionist and Administration Assistant.

During my time in working in the retail industry, my role has meant I have been the main point of contact with customers. Furthermore in that period of time, I have dealt with a variety customers in various difficult situations which have been dealt with calmly and courteously which has resulted in a successful conclusion for both the customer and company.I have gained valuable experience which Is why I am confident in dealing with difficult situations that may arise in my role and come up with solid solutions.to the satisfaction of those involved.

From a tender age of 5, I have been using computers and owned my very first one at the age of 6. Since my time of using an computer, I have picked up various skills and have use many of the ready available tools, therefore I have strong administrative skills and competent in using common ICT packages such as Excel and Microsoft word of which has played a crucial part in completing my college course.

Where in an environment that is both busy and stressful, I strongly understand the need to stay calm when under pressure, which is why I am resilient enough to overcome situations that may arise which will not affect my performance and my ability to deliver and meet strict deadlines.

One of my key personal attributes is to think creatively and to prioritise which I am been doing in both the workplace and on my college course. I understand the need to priortise work loads in order to work efficiently.

I thoroughly enjoy working both independently and in a team. I have had the pleasure of being involved in different team building activities which I have played active role in.

Another key personal attribute that I possess is excellent communication skills that include written, oral and presentation skills, which I have had to use in daily life both in college and in the work place.

I am extremely punctual. well organised and also have a good telephone manner.

What makes me stand out is that I am both ambitious, loyal, and I genuinely enjoy helping other's and putting a smile on their face.

Whilst I am young, I have gained valuable life experiences which I can bring to table. I enjoy learning therefore I am willing to undertake training if needed.

Most importantly, I would be committed to (school name), aims, values and the the objectives of its academies programme.

It's not a bad attempt but could use some refinement.

I would ditch the bit about owning a computer "from the tender age of 5". It's waffle and tbh sounds a bit silly.

Also delete "whilst I am young" - age is a protected characteristic and it comes across as unprofessional to mention this.

Check your use of apostrophes, full stops etc. As others have mentioned the spelling and grammar will need to be perfect or your application will be binned.

You should try to bring in some more examples/evidence to support what you are saying.

    Good luck!

I think this whole paragraph needs a rethink. Nobody needs to know how old you were when you started using computers! What ready available tools are you talking about?

When in an environment that is both busy and stressful, I strongly understand the need to stay calm when under pressure, which is why I am resilient enough to overcome situations that may arise which will not affect my performance and my ability to deliver and meet strict deadlines.

    Just a few amendments above.

The paragraph about using a computer needs revising. You could put something like "I have used computers from an early age and am fully competent with the use of MS Office packages such as Word, Excel and Outlook. I used these extensively for the duration of my time at college." and expand on that.

You could also include some examples of what you have actually done to support the statements that you are making.
    :p

I would put examples in on what you have done, unless its in a letter, bullet point it to match the person speclification or look at the job desription.
They don't want waffle, they don't care how long you have been using a PC - it's what you can do with one, what programs you have used and what you have used them for.
The idea is you are telling them how you can fit the different aspects of the job, don't leave them to guess. They will be swamped with applications and are going to ditch the long waffly ones with out so much as a second glance, as they can't be bothered to read it. Sounds harsh, but employers are looking for the slightest thing to wittle down 100+ applications to how ever many for interview.
