Whats the strongest Lager?

I'm trying to buy some strong lager for a friend abroad but only come across Carlsberg Special Brew & Tennents Extra (both 9%) as the strongest in supermarkets.
Is there anything any stronger. Just wanna buy a few. No harm intended

The strongest beer in the world is called "Hair of the Dog Dave" weighing in at a hefty 29% ABV :eek: , although it's no longer brewed, and was technically a barley wine.

Take him some Belgian stuff. Lots of them are around the 6-8% mark but taste nice too.

Special Brew, Tennents Super etc taste foul, they're just for the alcoholics to get a quick buzz.

Triple Karmeliet, 8.0%
Leffe Radieuse, 8.2%
Pauwel Kwak, 8.0%
Delirium Tremens, 9.0%
Duvel, 8.5%


and if you don't care what it tastes like
Bush Ambree, 12.0%

Have to agree with this but if you're not phased add Kestrel Super (9%) to the list - it pours (and probably tastes) like tar.

carlsberg elephant i believe is 9% or there abouts and is available in either asda or sainsburys if i remember rightly

The best I have found so far is called 8.6 bavaria
It's obviously no stronger than the ones you mention, but more drinkable In my opinion
I got mine from morrisons if that helps
