Compensation for goods not received

Options
Hi I purchased an item from the US using my credit card. It has not, and is not, likely to arrive. They say the package was was despatched on 4 June and I should check with my post office which is pointless as they cannot track after it leaves the US. Do I have any chance of compensation if the seller is saying they despatched and I do not receive the goods? This was an e-bay purchase. Thank you.

You are jumping the gun way too early. I have had things take around 30 days before now from the US and it really depends on the backlog at the international arrivals depot at Mount Pleasant where they are assessed for customs duty and VAT etc.

    Was it sent airmail?

UK surface mail to the USA takes up to 8 weeks. Given the USA postal service isnt known for being quick for the reverse journey it is potentially even longer.

16 days isnt even that long for airmail as things can get caught up at customs for an age at times.

As it was an Ebay purchase, you only have 45 days to open a dispute for non receipt of an item.

I'd give it until at least next Tuesday (so 21 days), then consider opening a dispute.

You will be given a full refund if they can't prove it has been delivered.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
