Goldfish Credit Card PPI

Hello,

I tried to find out if I had PPI on a Goldfish Credit Card that opened in 1998 but since then went into default from 2001 until 2013 with Wescotts. The account has since been paid off, I tried contacting Lloyds TSB and Barclaycard but both denying having responsibility for the Credit Card and Wescotts only say Goldfish are the creditors but don't exist anymore. Some bank must owned the Card. How the hell can you claim for mis-sold if nobody is taking responsibility and I believe all old credits cards had PPI on them from that period anyway. At present FOS are dealing with this case. Has anybody have any other ideas.

Hello Taff, Yes Wescott took over the debt but all they have is a Lloyds TSB on the back of something, but Lloyds cannot find anything about me and this goldfish credit card even though I have the account number of the credit card.

Then you need to complain to whoever owned the card before Westcott purchased it.
Sounds like you're going to need proof that it belongs to someone though so you might have to send a SAR to whoever owned it then and see what comes back.

Ask the FOS if they can shine any light on who was responsible for it then.

Gosh this is going to be difficult. I sent a SAR to Lloyds TSB but after 40 days they sent me back my cheque for £10 and a small letter saying we are not the credit controller of the goldfish credit cards. I since e-mailed the CEO at Lloyds TSB but they replied saying they cannot locate my file and say the cards with liability were sold on to Barclaycard, who then said they have no information on me about this Goldfish credit card and it must be Lloyds TSB. Then you wonder why people go to the FOS or Claims Company, Lol. Thanks for helping so far, Taff, by the way I take back all the things I said about you on this money expert forums. Have you any more ideas what to do?

Thanks taff, When I went into default and the debt was paid through baines and Ernst (DMP ) just before it was sold to Wescotts, Baines and Ernst did state HFC bank on there files but Wescotts mentioned Lloyds TSB on their files (arrrrr). I did initially went to HFC but they have no record of me. I am wondering if Goldfish credit cards used the HFC bank to pay the money into but does not mean they sold me PPI. Wescotts said they paid the money I owe through there Barclay bank. Is it worth me sending a SAR to HFC bank. Some one must be responsible for goldfish but it seems every bank is passing on the buck.

Ask the FOS who owned it when it went into default. No, it doesn't mean they sold it to you, but you need to find out who owned it when it went into default as they should be the ones responsible for the PPI.....or the PPI complaint anyway.

The FOS have a specialise team dealing with it, so I leave it to them to sort out. Any way got two PPI claims upheld, one failed, one did not have PPI on a credit card and the other Goldfish credit card ( who knows ) still on going.
