Currency cheaper at the airport or not?

Hi all, I'm off to Spain next week and was planning to get my currency from http://www.thomasexchangeglobal.co.uk as they seem to have some of the best rates. However my housemate, who's also going on hols with me is convinced that the rate he gets at the airport is better (not compared to the place I mentioned above, but in general). Surely this is not the case. Admitedly I haven't looked the last few times I've travelled, but on the few ocassions I have checked out the rates in the past, they weren't great by any means.

Your housemate is a real sucker! The airport is generally one of the worst possible places to change money.0

Not if you order online from https://www.travelex.co.uk and then submit a claim under their Price Promise. Click HERE for details. This space has been intentionally left blank0 -
I thought as much, I just wanted to check so I can practice my delivery of the words "I told you so"

Glenn thanks for the tip, but I can't be bothered with the hassle of a price match, I'll just get it from Thomas Exchange, but its good to know thats another way to do it.0 -
Yeah, of course if you can get to Thomas Exchange Global then its definitely not worth doing the price match.
By the way, the pre-order rates from Travelex are miles better than the walk-up rates so your mate still might be right!
Enjoy your hol

Well he wasn't planning on pre-ordering, just buying them on the day, so I still winGlennTheBaker wrote: »Yeah, of course if you can get to Thomas Exchange Global then its definitely not worth doing the price match.

You can order 60 days in advance.
They do not deliver - they are really only any good for advance ordering to pick up at the airport. If you pick up at the airport without ordering in advance their rates are not so good.0 -
Travelex rates are among the worst , if you just walk up to the counter at the airport , and only reasonable if you order online on their advertised rate. you really need to make full use of the price match to come off best. in that respect my dealings with them have been flawless
your mate is way off the best price by the sounds of itBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0
