Ford Finance PPI

I bought a car from a Ford dealership back 2001 changed the car in 2003 (through the same dealership on the Ford options plan) and traded that car in, in 2008.
I do not have paperwork for the car but will I still be able to claim PPI?
If it is a possibility will I write to the dealership or to Ford Finance ?
Thanks
