Hi All,
Advice needed please, so my phone stopped working after a software update by Samsung took it into the Orange shop for repair, to cut a long story short, they sent it off for repair, and gave me a £5 loan phone.
5 Weeks passed and I get a call to come pick my phone up, I arrive at the shop and my phone no longer has a battery or battery cover, it had been lost in the repair process.
Orange denied sending off the battery until I produced documentation showing they had, no one in the shop would deal with my query, told me I had to chase it all up, I chased the repair center who refused to deal with me and would only deal with Orange.
I spoke to the shop again and they said they would speak to the manager and contact me back, a week passed and no contact, I called the shop and asked to speak to the manager who knew nothing about this.
Since speaking to the manager she has arranged a replacement battery and battery cover, but I am asking to be compensated for inconveince and distress caused by this, but they are only offering £10 which I believe is not adequate considering what has happened.
What are others thoughts?

I would say accept the £10 too. As long as you have the battery and cover as well.0

Do you really get distressed that easily ?0

How do you deal with day to day life if this warrants compensation for distress?!0

And meanwhile in Africa.....My farts hospitalize small children0

Can you *prove* that you are more than £10 out of pocket?
For example, what is the cost of all calls you made? If it's a business phone on a business contract, can you prove you lost work due to being uncontactable etc (bear in mind if you aren't on a business contract, trying to claim business costs will not be successful)
Add up your *provable* and *quantifiable* losses, and if it's above £10, go back and ask for more using your findings. If its less, congratulations, you've made a profit.
Please bear in mind that you cannot put a price on "distress". In fact, I'd advise that if you are distressed by being without a phone for a week that you seek help to put life into perspective.0 -
Don't want to sound dodgy here, but so many people want something for nothing these days. The money for the "Compensation Culture" will have to come from somewhere and will result in increased prices for us. People are just getting greedy - take the £10 and be happy with it, compensation is supposed to cover you for losses, not increase your bank balance.0
