Loft Insulation

We have literally NO insulation in our loft and our gas bill for the first month we were in the house (Feb) was horrendous. I've just had a quote through from Energy Care (in partnership with "Leicestershire and Northamptonshire Energy Efficency Advice Centre") offering government subsidised home insulation. We're not in receipt of any of the qualifying benefits to get it free but for the size of our house it would be £269 (apparently normal price is £675). My OH was going to do this himself but was dreading it as it's a horrible job. Does £269 sound good? We're in a 1930's 3-bed semi.

Good evening: We had similar quote down here in East Kent...price sounds good...insulating a loft is a filthy job and something we leave to those in the business (though we do crawl around in the loft doing heating and electrics !)

Sounds OK to me. I got quotes for mine - 3 bedroomed house, with 7" of insulation, already in, which needed 3 extra inches. All were around £170.0

That's about what we paid for a similar property.
Also do you have cavity wall insulation? most 1930s properties will have cavity walls, and we found having cavity wall insulation has made the biggest difference. I think it cost about £240 (with a grant).
