I have just found this site/forum so I'm hoping for a bit of advice. I am in my mid forties and live in the home that belonged to my mother. I've lived here all my life and have spent the last few years caring for my mother, as well as working full time. Sadly my mother passed away 3 weeks ago. This house is now paid for…

Firstly
Look at it from your siblings point of view.
Your mother left them one fifth of the house.
You're telling them to **** off its all yours.

So, lets agree to meet somewhere in the middle?
They want what they are entitled to, you dont want to be homeless.

If you want the house, and the other siblings are happy to take £54k/4 for it, you will get a mortgage with very little trouble.
The less the house is valued at the better for you.

If you want to move on, the lot of you shouldnt struggle to come up with a deposit for a rental one you get an offer, you can pay them back from the proceeds.
