This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

  • Good morning everyone :)

Was very warm yesterday evening/overnight so left a line full of washing out and got up early to rescue it before today's forecast showers.

DD had a lovely birthday with some little things to open, even though she has to wait a week for the mobile phone she wanted as her main gift. Nowhere had it in stock so it's now on order and paid for. It does look amazing value for money so let's see if it lives up to its promise.

Have put some half price lamb in the slow cooker for dinner and we will have this with home made tzatziki, courgettes and salad. More salad, this time chicken, for lunches, low carb dieting is so much easier in the summer than winter!

This weekend's job list is already growing, no time or energy to do much in the evening so need to play catch up and DH's next batch of exam marking will start soon.

Better get ready for work and get going, so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning all:j:j

No need to worry I'm here!:T:T

I would have come on and updated everyone on my appointment yesterday, But I was were wound up to post !

I went to the doctors on Monday, As I was worried by something, I did not post about on here,
Anyway My GP could not answer, But Did not think there was a major problem as I seemed OK, And I felt ok.
The problem was with the plate,
Well She phoned the hospital to speak with the consultant, to ask him about it. He was not available, But they told her I would be seeing him In clinic on Wednesday,
Now I had my letter with me and She had seen it which started I would be seeing a consultant nurse for my check up. The hospital told her that both a nurse and my consultant would be there and I would be able to ask and find out what I needed to know, As well as be checked over ,
So I get there yesterday, And All that is there to see me Is a Nurse, So I asked about my consultant, too be told that its one of his days In theater, and he dose not see people on a Wednesday, anyway. I told her about the problem, and should did not know the answer, she said that she has a meeting with my consulate to talk about the people she has seen in clinic On the night, and she would ask him. If there is a problem then she would phone me last night or this morning to talk about what to do, or what I need to do.

Waste of time going really, I dont know any more this morning than yesterday morning!

Now on to more nice things:j:j

    Morning all:j:j

Heavy rain here this morning, with heavy rain forecast for most of the day, So a normal British summers day:D:D

I went to bed at 8:30 last night as I could not stand my bad head any more, I had a right headache!
Not I'm not sure if it was down to the fact that I did not a afternoons sleep like normal, Or the fact that I was wound up. and a bit of both.
But the headache was a killer, Anyway I was out for the count within no time at all, I then did not wake once In the night until 5:10am! The longest time I was have slept In months In one go!

I only woke when I did as our bedroom is on the back of the house, And the window was open as it was so hot here yesterday,

The hens had decided that they did not like something and were SHOUTING! all 5 of them and also the 4 young hens here trying to have a go too, but could not quite make right sort of noise, So I had to get up and stop them, As soon as I walked up the garden they stopped, I don't have a clue what started them off, But they have been quite since, I hope no one complains,
I think I would still be asleep now if it was not for them.

Not much on here today for me. My wife has work this afternoon,
I need to have a think about dinner tonight, but that's about it.

I night do a bit of reading later, and I shall be having my afternoon nap too,
So A restful day here for me today,

Well I hope that you all have a great day,

    Enjoy :j:j

How frustrating Halight - Hope you get answers today x

My doggies were "shouting" last night so we put it down to the thundery atmosphere x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

Halight how frustrating for you .

Really muggy here and no storm as promised, we need one it would really clear the air.

Off to work today, dinner will be something and chips possibly egg and beans.

DD got signed off from college yesterday, all work is done and marked, I am so proud of her she got three distinction *'s which means she is guaranteed her uni place for Sept :j she has worked so hard bless her, and can now enjoy the summer with no studying.

Need to do a wash tonight and get it on the airer, and I have a Tesco delivery coming.

    Have good days all xx

Headlight - Hope you get your answers today.
Hugs and best wishes to all, I'm afraid I have been reading but not had time to post. The evening job is getting a little out of hand, working 5 nights out of 7 at the moment and school is really busy too.

Had the school trip yesterday to the Safari Park, it was a lovely day and everyone seemed to enjoy it, just wish they could stay longer. Came home and took the doggie visitor (who has been a dream after the first night) out for an hour with DD and then realised I hadn't taken anything out of the freezer for dinner. We had a chinese takeaway which is something we very rarely do. I did enjoy it though and having the evening off work made it better.

The weather is overcast today and my early morning walk with the dog was a little damp - I think we are forecast rain anyway so the washing will go on the airers.

My new hoover is getting lots of use - didn't realise how bad the other one was!

Off for a shower and work, take care. XX

    Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudy, and dull but dry start to the day here.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was scampi, chips and peas for the menfolk and I had mushroom omlette and salad. Tonight we will be having pork chops, (as long as they defrost in time, I got them out of the freezer and put them in the fridge as it was so warm last night and they are still frozen this morning!). DS2 made a cheesecake at school and it was very nice, still some left in the fridge for tonights dessert.

This morning I will be going to do the food shopping shortly, as we're going away tomorrow morning - once I get back I will tackle the ironing mountain - then pack for the boys and for ourselves - hopefully this time hubby won't pack their bag in the car as well as ours like he did the last time we went away and I didn't realise he'd done it until we were unpacking the car at our destination!! DS2 is about now so will leave the packed bag in his room this time. Will ask DS1 to shove the hoover round too.

Work was steady yesterday morning so it wasn't too bad and I got caught up with emails etc before my days off.

Really looking forward to going away tomorrow - just me and DH - although Sat morning he will be away at a meeting - it's nice to get away and just have some chill time. We're going with another couple and we will be doing the promotional event with them, no doubt we'll have a few drinks and eats too.

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning All
Bright here at the moment and I have just put a load of washing on the line.
Too hot and sticky to sleep properly last night so I was up with the larks (Well DH at 5.30am :D) I have been pottering ever since.
I must call DD in a little while, she is really on a downer, things are not looking too great at work. I got more out of her when she got home, evidently it was 45 shops closed yesterday and all the area managers have been made redundant as well. There are just the three shops left, basically the ones with low leases, rent and rates. DD's shop doesn't even have a toilet they have to go to Costa or Asda
They have been told that they are on trial to see if they are viable i.e if they can make a profit. her manager says he is looking for another job as well, because he doesn't think that they will be there at Christmas :(

halight I hope you get some answers today x

My neighbour has just brought my bin up for me, bless her, so I will get DS to put it in the back garden when he emerges from his dark pit of doom :p

Off to get another load of washing in the machine

    BFN x
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
