Socket Set deals?

Options
When my housemate moved out I lost access to his rather handy Halfords socket set, so now I'm looking to get my own.

I already have the basic Halford ratchet spanner set so i'm generally sorted there, but I need a proper socket set. Is Halfords the way to go or would you recommend somewhere else?
My requirements would be the set contained all the correct extensions and spark plug adapters as well as going up to at least a 27mm socket. Below that isn't much use in the long run.

Can anyone recommend me one for a good price?

Cheers

Socket sets often contain a number of sockets that you rarely or never need. My advice would be to buy a good quality ratchet drive and then buy the sockets / extensions, you know you'll need, individually.

I find Halfords kit is a reasonable quality but they used to do higher quality stuff (Facom) as well - don't know if they still do.

There is certainly a lot of option out there, ranging from £5 sets to hundreds of pounds!

I would reccomend you bought a sensibly priced set if you only use it occasionally. But if you use it a lot, invest in something a little better. If you want them to go past 27mm, a 1/2" drive set is probably required.

LawsonHIS have a Draper Expert set on a clearance offer at the moment, 1/4",3/8", 1/2", upto 32mm, screwdriver bits, spanners....

I use draper expert stuff a fair bit and hasnt let me down.

The last thing you want is something in lots of bits, then your socket breaks and you cant put it all back together!!

A *very* good quality set at a very reasonable price, the 1/4 drive set is a cracking little set too.
    The money, Dave...
