Moving in date possibly pushed back because of current Owners...

Hi all...

I'll try n keep this simple. We've just negotiated a house, the mortgage is fine and valuation, etc... and we're just waiting for the next step. When asked when we want to move in, we said ideally August and providing everything goes through all ok, we were told by the solicitor he doesn't see an issue with this.

We've just found out (From a friend of their family that they might not want to move out until october). I was just wondering if there is anything we can do to make sure that we can keep it to our chosen date, again if everything is all ready to be signed over.

Just because an extra 2 months on top of what seems to be an eternity of waiting is probably going to drive me crazy.

Ask them nicely but remember that until contracts are actually exchanged nothing is binding.

Really in this country, as it is neither right nor realistic to attempt to send the heavies in, your only threat is to pull out. At the end of the day if you are not prepared to go through with that there's nothing you can do as it takes two to make an agreement.

As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.
