DIY Lessons?

Options
Hi Everyone. Just wondered if anyone knows of any courses in the Middlesbrough area for basic DIY, have just acquired my own house and have no idea how to drill a hole or hang a mirror!

Pathetic I know but would be grateful to hear from people!

I cant say I have ever heard of this but then again I have never looked for it.
The best thing would probably be to get hold of a DIY book. There will be plenty of help and pointers in there.
But maybe find a local hardware shop that might be able to help out with information on how to do things.

B&Q run some 'demonstration' teaching sessions. not much i know but its free to attend
  • You don't need to go for lessons ;)

    Take a look here-

    http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/

There are hundreds of pages of help, like how to fit a shelf on a solid wall-

    Fitting shelves

Or you might want to do a large project like Decking

The only problem with the site is finding what you want, although if you look in the contents most of the stuff is listed alphabetically.

I dont know about courses but there are a few good DIY guides around. When I got my first house I was given this book

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Collins-Complete-Manual-Albert-Jackson/dp/0007185235

I found it pretty useful and it covers all sorts of jobs you might do from the very easy stuff to the really difficult stuff.

I will vouch for Ultimate Handyman aswell.

Theres a lot of topics covered there already, both in the guides and in the forum section. And if you cant find what your looking for, just post in the forum, and im sure we will be able to help you out!
