HELP! - Uswitch - Confused?

Hi there,
I am trying to switch, as im currently with EDF and feel as though im paying out of my nose at the moment, and enough is enough!

Checked USwitch site to switch gas and electric and decided to switch to the online price fixed as im currently on the standatd tariff. according to the fixed plan I save around £500... so thought hey why not...want to save some money!

now the confused part... but in the results, it states that we have estimated you'll use 4787 kWh in a year, but what if I use more and go over this? would I need to pay more...after all, its a fixed rate right? can anyone clarify this for me as it seems to be too good to be true?

The fixed rate will be per kWh so what you pay will depend entirely on your usage. If you use more than that usage figure then you'll pay more, if you use less then you'll pay less. The usage figure is just to give you an idea of how much you'll pay/save.

Just as an aside I would check the figure of 4787 kWh in a year as that is a tiny amount. Is that for both gas and elec?? Is that based on your previous years billing? As an example I live in a 2 bed terrace and don't have excessive usage or bills. My gas consumption alone for the last 12 months was approx. 22,000 kwh, I haven't got my elec figures to hand.

As posted by essjaytee, it's the price per Kwh that's fixed and your bills will be based on how many you use.

From your post it appears that you entered what you pay into the uSwitch site. This will only give a rough & ready answer to what your costs and useage will are likely to be - For accurate figures you need to enter your annual consumption in Kwh - If you don't have these, ask the supplier what the figures were for the previous occupant of your home.
