Honeymoon to South Africa

  • Hi there!
I hope you guys have an amazing time! I come from PE (now in London) and visit every year, so here are a few tips.
Getting there: If you are going to book everything yourself consider the following - book your international flights with SAA, BA, Virgin (Nationwide fly from Gatwick and have brillliant service but only fly a few times a week and the planes are a bit old so no personal entertainment screens in economy) then book you INTERNAL flights with a low cost operator:
    Kulula (https://www.kulula.com/)
    Mango (flymango.co.za)
    1Time (https://www.1time.aero/aqueduct/1time/Booking)
The international airways charge at least 100 quid for a connecting flight to PE from Joburg or Cape Town and the locost carrier can do it for half that (or less)
    Starting off in PE
If youre planning to do your safari in the Eastern Cape you are in for a treat.
    The 3 big game parks
Kariega (http://www.kariega.co.za/) nice gae drive, cheaper than shamwari
Shamwari (http://www.shamwari.com/) the grand daddy - beloved of movie stars and celebrities
    Addo Elephant Park (http://www.sanparks.org/parks/addo/) unmissable!
There are plenty more to chose from (see : http://www.sa-venues.com/accommodation/ec_game_lodges.htm)
Went to Pumba last year and it was very nice...

My advice is chose one of the private game parks but go to Addo as well fro a day trip.

Now Most Important info! PE's best kept secrets are the 2 small game farms in the city. Most international visitors never get there and they are well worth it because they are cheap as chips and offer incredible experiences :
Sea view lion park (http://www.seaviewgamepark.co.za/content.asp?ID=1&cache=6/3/2007%2011:05:38%20PM) 2 quid to get in and do your own game drive then another 2 quid for around 15 minutes in the lion cub enclosure where you and your partner can have a lion cub in your lap! Amazing!
Kragga Kamma game park (http://www.kraggakamma.com/content.asp) has a tame cheetah enclosure where for a few quid you can run your hands through the softest fur and feel the big cats purrrrrr! Awesome!
