Sealing around UPVC doors

Any experts on UPVC doors around?
I've got UPVC patio doors and the frame/unit sits on a UPVC step piece and there is a thin but deep gap between the two. At one end it looks to be sealed at the end (as in a good tight fit between the two) but at the other there appears to be a gap between the unit and the step (opening not perfectly square?) which I think may be letting ants get in past the step and then under the UPVC unit.
There's some internal seals which only a few ants seem to get past but they seem to be nesting/using this gap.
Is there any reason why I couldn't just fill this gap with silicone to keep them out?

If you are talking about the external window cill you can't seal along this gap because water drains from under the doors and onto this cill.
Have u got a picture?0 -
No haven't got a picture to hand - it is the gap you describe.
Oh well, I'll have to stick with the ant killer then.0 -
well .. i being thinking about UPVC for my patio doors. Where did you get it from and what are the rates ???? I have already been in conversations with some firms like Window Choice.0

:D:D
Should be good stuff though, you know how cold it gets up there;);););)
OP, I'm also pretty certain it's the gap that lets water than passes the window seals, out of the frame, it simply drains onto the step.
Don't seal it.
But there should be a continuous seal at the inside sill to frame joint;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0
