PPI on Car Finance - Help & Advice needed (Please)

Hi,
I've finally convinced myself to try and reclaim PPI, I've filled out the online questionnaire for Barclays (fairly straightforward).
The advice I need relates to PPI that was part of the finance I received when I purchased a new car back in 2006. The finance was thru GMAC (that I am certain of), the car was purchased through a Hartwell dealership in Norwich (again, I'm certain of that).
Here's where I'm confused as to what to do next, I know I was sold PPI (I feel unfairly), the Hartwell website no longer lists a dealership in Norwich. Does this mean that I'm unable to claim?
Any advice on what I should do would be very much appreciated.

No. If the company still exists, albeit at a different location, then you complain to that address.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Thank you for the fast reply, I have emailed Hartwell via their main website.
So I'll wait to hear back from them.0 -
I've received an email back this evening from Hartwell:
They say that finance wasn't provided by GMAC, am I able to get a copy of my financial agreement from Hartwell?
This is the response:
"Hartwell Finance provided all of the PPI from 2005 for the Hartwell group and we have no record of supplying you with this.
We have checked the registration number and your name against our records.
I am sorry we cannot help you here."

No, the agreement is not available on closed accounts. The agreement would not prove you had PPI regardless. You can send a SAR letter to see what they do have on file for you, but this seems to me to be a waste of time and money (it costs £10) seeing as they've said they have no record of you. Your choice.am I able to get a copy of my financial agreement from Hartwell?0
