I had an accident and phoned my insurance Hastings up to tell them. They said they would send a recovery guy to go collect my vehicle.
The next morning I had a knock at my door and a policeman was there. He informed me that my car had now in fact been burned out. I rang Hastings to ask why my car was not picked up and what to do from now. I was then informed they didn't see picking my car up as an emergency as they said it was secure. It was in a field! Not only that a second claim was now going to have to be made as the vehicle was now destroyed. Where to I stand with this as it was not my fault the vehicle was not picked up and I had followed procedures my informing the insurance company I had had an accident.

Oh dear - but if a total write off, this takes precedence and, depending on your level of insurance will cover the third parties, AND your loss.
If they try to hit you with 2 excesses, you should argue this was a result of the delayed recovery, but apart from that the ball is in their court.0
