How long to complete a dispute with Barclaycard.

I'm currently in a dispute with a purchase and have found Barclaycard to be slow and unresponsive.
I purchased a new front door from a local company who seemed very capable and professional. Against my untrusting nature I did not bother to get a drawing of the door unit with dimensions as the salesman at the shop seemed to be aware of what I wanted and assured me that I was going to get a wide door.
I paid for it with Barclaycard on the understanding that should there be any problems that I could get them to deal with the problems.
The fitter arrived and destroyed my old door and sidelights removing them, It was only at this point I realised that the new door was not as wide as I had asked for and I had no option but, to let him fit it as I could not be without a front door.
I raised the problem with the company and they firstly denied they had made a mistake and then agreed that it was not right and offered to change it if I paid more money. I then decided it would be better to get barclaycard to deal with it . So I filled in their forms and sent them a copy of the only thing I have - The invoice.
They have since just kept asking for documents which I do not have and have told them so several times.
I'm not confident that Barclaycard are going to resolve this issue.

sorry but you are jumping the gun with Barclaycard in my opinion, you are protected under various consumer laws for your door.
id be going back to the door people in writing, and give them a chance to resolve it first, and why are you getting work done to your house without even these door people vist your house with such a basic tool as a tape measure in the first place?
you don't walk into a company's premises and ask for a door to be fitted without even having the dimensions of the hole you want them to fill0 -
Of course I didn't just ask for 'a door'. I took the dimension of the unit I needed and all the details of what I wanted, The whole unit is 2500mm wide and I asked about having the unit with a wide door in the centre with glass side lights of equal size either side of the door and I agreed to a door of 900mm wide. When my old door and sidelights had been removed I then saw that the new door was only 700mm wide.
The company did send their director out to measure the house prior to manufacturing and fitting the door and I raised the point of wanting a wide door at that time too as the original door was nice and wide.0 -
this is why its important to get things in writing from the start, I still advise that you get back in touch with the door people, also ask them for details of the trade body, and stick to the line that you have not got what you asked for.
Barclaycard will help, yes they are jointly responsible but try to resolve in first instance with the door people, as Barclaycard will not just act on your instruction they will want to speak to the door people.
and sorry I mis judged your first post.0 -

With no proof of what was ordered. It is one word against the other.
So joint responsibility or not. Without proof this is going no where fast.
Looks like this is a CCA claim and not a dispute. As such the OP needs to prove breach of contract & or misrepresentation. Now with nothing in writing....
There is no case.
I think the Op needs to go back to the door company and try to get a resolution via them. Which maybe a lot quicker.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
I could kick myself for not getting it in writing before paying but, The salesman seemed to be very good and his attention to detail was good with respect to it all. I had visited their premises several times with my mother (as it is her house) and the sales guy confirmed the width of the door every time I spoke to him as I'd been very vocal on the point of wanting the door to be wide.
I have even spoke with the manufacturers of the door and it is only 16mm wider than the smallest door they make of this type and looks silly having a narrow door in the centre of two large sidelights.
I did try to resolve the issue with the company who supplied and fitted the door but, Firstly they denied they made a mistake and the last time I spoke with them they offered to change it if I paid something towards it. The problem is they were not specific about it and said maybe £100 or so.0 -
maybe better to put this off to experience and a lesson learned, as it seems fault lies with you and the trader.
if they want £100, why don't you compromise, and maybe offer £50 to resolve it and see what they say.
only other way is to continue with your Barclaycard claim and see what happens.0 -
With all respect, I can't see how I'm at all to blame.
Maybe I'm being idealistic but, When I ask for something I expect to get what I asked for and what I paid for.0 -

sorry but you do have some blame in this, and to be honest no one should of signed off on any door until both parties had agreed on what was going to be purchased and fitted.
I so need to learn how to do multi quotes.0 -
I wouldn't have proceeded without the supplier attending site and confirming the layout and dimensions themselves, probably recorded on a written quote. They may have charged a little more for this, though this could be construed as part of the quote, but pushes responsibility firmly back onto the, for all issues in supplying and fitting.0

They did come to the house to measure up, One of the company directors did it. I asked him while he was there about the width of the door.0
