Did you notice... I'm back? We have been to get the tadpoles. It all went very well. No one fell in the stream or waded in above the tops of their wellies. I think we managed to get 5 tadpoles. It's a bit hard to tell yet because they are hiding in the pond-weed. They are just settling into their new home.:D

Whilst you're all here, could I ask a quick non-related question? I know how to work out my take home pay, but does anyone know any websites to work out how much tax i'll pay on a £500 bonus next month? Would it just be 22%? Sorry if it's a really daft question... It won't take me over £30k or anything. I need to work out how much Student Loan and Pension will come outta it too... x

Don't forget you'll pay National Insurance on that too.

I've a feeling the cut-off point is about £2300 (could be wrong though, it's just a figure dragged from the back of my mind lol) - so if your monthly salary including the bonus is below this, you would still pay tax at the standard rate. If it was above this, you might pay more tax this month, but it would be adjusted over the next couple of months so overall you haven't overpaid - not sure what would happen to the student loan and pension payments though.

Gah! I think last year I got the same £500 additional payment and I cleared £228 of it. Doesn't seem fair at all!! I have to work a 3 day weekend to get that :( Thanks love

Tigz, sorry you've not been well chick - I always eat bananas if I've been sick and need a bit of an energy boost.

    Thank you Snaggles!

    Right, so 22% tax = £110
    3% pension = £15
    Student loan = £3.75 extra
National Insurance = £4.58 extra = £133.33 of deductions... giving me £366.67. That sounds alright. Bet i've got it wrong though :(
