Hyundai Car Finance PPI - help/advice?

Hello,
We are going a long way back now, but in 1999 I took out one of those regrettable car 'deals' where I paid a set amount each month and then had an 'option to buy' after three years. I was self employed and I know that I had to 'accept the payment protection in order to qualify for the finance deal' - so I did. I paid it religiously for three years - and then handed the car back as it was a financial drain. So the 'loan' was from 1999 to 2002.
I never kept any paperwork (who does) so my question is this - should I simply write it off as a huge 'no go', or is there somewhere that I can find out more about the finance plan I had? Surely it's on a computer system somewhere? Can I pay to obtain this information?
Money is really tight at the minute, so I'm keen to pursue any avenues .... any advice? Is this a total lost cause?
Take care

If you took out this finance with a car dealer, it's years before regulation (2005) and the firm won't have to consider any complaint you might make.
So, yes, it's a "no go". Sorry.0 -
Car dealers were not regulated prior to 2005, and if the car dealerhsip is still running, will probably deny your complaint on that basis.
The only way to obtain documents, if there are any left and that's unlikely, is to send the car dealership, if it's still running, a SAR and £10.
However, your chances are slim to none of recovering any of this money down to the age and the fact they weren't regulated.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
