What a mess...Can estate agent enter?

Oh, and probably ditch the husband too.
[/STRIKE] Oops, did I say that out loud?
And yes, the husband is going whether he wants to or not as he is a much worse nightmare then the estate agent!
PS He does not want to go because in his words: "I want to make your life as difficult as I can". Well, he is doing a good job of that!0 -

Estate agent tried to do similar with me at the end of our one year contract.
I spoke to the landlord who laughed and told me they were chancing their arm - they would charge him and us a fee if we signed a new contract and he told us not to waste our time.
I then spoke to the agency and told them I had spoken to the landlord and he was happy with a statutory periodic tenancy and we wouldn't be signing a new contract. They kicked up a stink and phone a few more times to pressure us and in the end I had to get quite rude with them but they went away.
The key is really what the landlord wants to happen.0 -

Thank you, DRP. I have had a lot of good advice from you guys here on the forum today (thank you!) so I will write to the agent and when husband finds out, he will hit the roof because I dared to disobey his order. Well, I am now actually looking forward to sorting this matter out (and him at the same time!).0 -

My only concern is that your husband is on the tenancy and therefore has access to your house. Would it not be prudent to sign a new 6 month tenancy with your LL (you can get a pack from smiths for £5) naming only you. The LL will have to reregister your deposit, but atleast its then your house.0

Personally, I'd write back to say, we were surprised to receive your letter as we are now on a statuatory periodic contract between ourselves and our landlord and, as such, were not aware that yourselves had any further involvement. Furthermore, any attempt to enter the property will be regarded as a criminal break-in and reported to the police accordingly. Then change the barrel of the locks, get on with your life, and ignore the letting agents.

I have now e-mailed the estate agent along your lines and they replied straightaway with this: We have been trying to contact you in relation to the renewal at the above address. My colleague had a conversation with you on xxx confirming you were happy to renew for a 12 month contract....we have no intention to enter the premises now or in the near future now that we have confirmation that the house is occupied and has not been abandoned.
I think I may have said over the phone that we wanted to renew and it was only because at that point we had no knowledge of the existence of statutory periodic tenancy (I know I should have talked to somebody beforehand). I think since they are not entering the property now, I will just ignore them and write back to them that I do not recall agreeing to anything or say that I said to them I would check with my husband if he wants to renew.
Any suggestions how to shake this agent off as I don't want them to be ringing me every day.
Thanks for any suggestions you may have.0 -

Tell them you are happy to continue your tenancy for the foreseeable future but you don't want to sign. Confirm in writing to EA and copy to your LL.
As long as you make it absolutely clear. There there is no reason for them to keep ringing you.0
