I see they havent improved their training techniques.
Last time I ventured in there, I picked up a trainer I liked and asked if they had a size 11, spotty !!!!!! rocks back up 5 mins later, "only got a 9 will they do?"
Never again.0 -
I buy a lot of stuff for my kid in SD, including branded trainers which are usually at half the price of other shops. I've never been lied to by their staff but then again, if I want to buy Nike trainers (or any other brand), that's what I buy, if they don't have them in stock, I'll either come back another day or go somewhere else. And if I needed a size 9 or 9.5, I certainly wouldn't buy a size 10, common sense tells me that they wouldn't fit!
Buying trainers in a shop like SD isn't like buying from a specialist sporting goods retailer. During my last visit to SD, I ended up buying a Batman t-shirt, 2 pairs of reading glasses, a reduced price Arsenal mug and a pair of women's flip-flops. I wouldn't expect their staff to have particularly indepth knowledge of their products, they sell such a wide variety of goods. And it's clearly a "pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap" outlet, you aren't going to get an unbiased opinion from there, of course they want to push their own brands. If you need advice when buying trainers, you should probably go to a higher-end store that sells only sports gear. SD is not for the faint-hearted at the best of times!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
Incidentally, if you're looking for running trainers, I'd highly recommend going to an independent sports shop where they will generally have an idea as to what they're doing. A good place will ask questions, a brilliant place will advise you to bring your gear & will check your running style to recommend the best trainer for your gait.
Sports Direct on the other hand, well, they'll just sell you any old dross then try to sell you the sports socks & the bag for life to go with it.Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

Going back to the original thread title. It isn't so much a problem with Sports Direct, more par for the course.0

Add to this the fact that SD won't take back any goods you've bought if it's a simple 'change of mind' (which, in fairness, they are not obliged to do) and you've pretty much got a 'Consumer's Guide to Buying Goods in SD' there!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
