As trace heating is widely used in commercial applications on large bore Mild Steel Heavy Gauge pipework, it should be ok on plastic, maybe too good as the plastic condese wudnt be full of water? Melt down could occur;) Would depend on the amount of temperature control on it?

The Drayton Freeflo looks quite good.

When the temp outside drops it blows warm/hot air down the condensate pipe work.
