PPI without account numbers

Hi i am hoping someone here can help me out.
I have been submitting PPI claims through a 3rd party and so far have received over £500 back!
I am trying to now submit one independently which i think will come back with a few hundred pounds refund, of which i DO NOT want to pay 25% to the 3rd party company!
When i have submitted claims through the aforementioned company i have never given them account or agreement number and they have still managed to reclaim successfully. However i have been in contact with the banks concerned directly (Which i have confirmed are the right ones through my Experian Credit report) and they are saying if i send in the completed questionnaire without an agreement or account number it will be rejected and returned straight away. I have no way of obtaining these details as i know longer have accounts with the banks in question so they cannot complete security to confirm my identity, instead they say i have to send in a written request for copies of original docs enclosing a cheque for £10 for each request and it could take up to 40 days!
My question is:
Can i complete the questionnaires with as much information as i have to hand including previous addresses, Experian Credit report screen shots etc and get it processed or will it get rejected?
Has anyone done this before or are the banks just trying to put me off? I dont want to shell out £20 if there is a chance there is no claim to be made...
The banks in question are
BoS - Hire Purchase
Mint (RBS Group) - Credit Card
Thanks in advance for you advice.
Both accounts are closed and have been for several years.
Thanks in advance for your help!

They are right. you will have to send them a SAR and £10 to discover the account numbers, and that's assuming they still have the info.
It will get rejected without an account number [loan or credit card number, not PPI number]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
In addition to the SAR, if you've changed address since you've had the account make sure you give them an address history. I've also included a photocopy of my passport when performing an SAR which has avoided any identity questions.
More importantly however, check your contract with the PPI reclaiming company. It's possible you may have agreed to give them a cut of all future claims, whether they were involved or not. You may have to exit the contract which may involve a fee.Competition wins:
2010 - approx £450. 2011 - approx £800. 2012 - approx £300. 2013 - nothing so far!0 -
