Recommendations for weed killer please.

Can anyone please recommend a good weedkiller, preferably in a spray bottle. I have a gravelled drive which has good membrane underneath but every other day I seem to be pulling weeds up that suddenly appear.
I've used several different weedkillers over the last couple of years but after a few weeks the pesky weeds are back. I don't want to keep throwing good money after bad.

Any suggestions?

Yes, buy yourself a decent back pack sprayer from a reputable company on-line (about £65) and also purchase generic glyphosate on-line in 1 - 5 litre quantities, then spray when the weather is calm every few weeks, as necessary.

Pay no heed to anyone telling you this is only for "professionals." It's your garden!

It depends how big your drive is - you won't need a knapsack sprayer for a small drive.

Either use a generic glyphosate weedkiller as Dave suggests or, if the weeds are mostly seedlings, get a flame gun.

Thanks for the replies, it's not a very big drive and they are mostly seedlings coming up (I don't give them chance to grow any bigger)

I'll try the glyphosate I think first, I've heard of this before but thought they'd stopped selling it for some reason?

I'd love a flame gun. However, like the OP, I've got membrane under the pebbles and don't want to melt it. I know you should just let the flame lick the weeds so that they wither rather than incinerate them, but I think I'd maybe forget...

It's a good point - you do only need to do a quick swipe to kill the weeds but it's probably not worth risking damage to the membrane.

Great fun on block paving, though!

I use a HozeLock sprayer like the one above, and it's the bees knees.

No, that was sodium chlorate which had a residual effect, and it's that which everyone is missing.

If your drive is small, I'd second the use of a 5litre sprayer rather than a back pack.

I'm not sold on weed wands. I have one and I only use it to light bonfires! The real McCoy, a Sheen flamegun, costs around £150 and that is well worth having, but obviously OTT here.
