Open Office problem

A colleague followed my advise (must stop doing that! :rolleyes: ) and has downloaded OpenOffice.

Whenever she tries to open a Word document, whether through OO or Internet Explorer, she gets a message complaining that UWINAPI.DLL is missing.

She's searched the hard drive and found three instances.

It's a new lappy with Vista. The Word docs were created on her old PC with a version of Office which she "thinks" was 2000.

I suspect she will need to copy one of the existing ones somewhere. Any ideas?

    I don't know anything about OpenOffice myself, but they do have a support site. A quick search found this which may or may not help. If not you may find the answer with a further search.

    UPDATE.

    She brought the lappy in today and I immediately noticed that the .DOC files weren't associated.

    Single left click, shift/right click, "Open With".

    Choose "Open Office" and check the box. Works first time!

    Went in and checked the Tools / Options and checked all the necessary boxes. Sweet as a nut!

    SO;
    "Can't find UWINAPI.DLL" means Unregistered File Type in this instance.
