Wednesday 19th June 2013 - What small DFW things will you do today??!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:
Morning guys  happy hump day
busy busy busy at the moment!
Things for the day:
* emailed vogue mobile recycling company a stiff message. I'm really not sure what I can do other than this? They have had my phone but haven't paid me. There's no tel no and they're not replying to my emails. any suggestions?
* checked banking - no change
* cancelled dd to a magazine - it was one of those 3 for £1 deals
* read Martin's email
* super quick shower
* all meals from stores - grab something from freezer for dinner
* post off direct debit for for cc
* tend to plants
* make note of expenses
* try to work hard - so many distractions and stuff to do!
* visit dd on way home from work
ok that's me. Have a lovely day y'all x

Hi josie
yep she is. They want her to get better before she goes into labour as it'll be sucky to go through labour as well as not feeling well! She is going out of her mind with boredom. Hopefully the labour will start soon or she can come home today.
AMAZING news re completion :j you must be over the moon! When are you actually moving in?DF as at 30/12/16

Me and DD are moving in either this weekend or next, we need to move MIL out first (this weekend) as she doesn't drive so we have teams of people with vans for Saturday and Sunday
If we get time to move stuff in the weekend we will but if not then it'll be next weekend :TNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -
Hi everyone. I've been reading this thread for daily encouragement and decided to have a go at posting my own list. So...
- checked bank account
- all meals from stores
- work hard (I work from home and am doing extra hours to save some money for various things including debt repayment)
- clean up the kitchen
- washing
- keep an eye on my swagbucks and topcashback referrals
- put some copper tape around raised veg bed and try the beer trick as the slugs are destroying everything that makes the faintest attempt at growing!
- review the budget for this month and next month
- work out when I'll be able to take box of books to collection point for first dealings with We Buy Books (they wouldn't take many of our books, so not sure where else to try)
- get an early night so that working extra hours doesn't seem so tough tomo
Think that's it... :-)0 -
Afternoon all,
Positive money-saving actions today:
*Rubber chicken Day 4: Chicken stew, new potatoes & veggies for dinner (using some of the stock & the saved gravy). Chicken dijonnaise roll for mr f's packed lunch.
*Ironing. Switched off for last garment.
*Cut open body cream to get the last of it out.
*Started using last of a lipstick with lip brush (otherwise 1/3 of a lipstick is left stuck in the bottom of the tube & gets thrown out).
*Put bread maker on for bread rolls for rest of week's packed lunches, etc.
*Jigged June's meal plans for next week. Grocery budget already overspent & another shop to do, so replaced some meals on plan with cheaper stuff & stuff we have in stock.
*Did surveys, plus an online project as have been invited to participate in some more in depth studies (via Toluna) for which I am supposedly paid £5 a task. Did a task this morning.....not too onerous.
*Check veggie garden for pests/problems & put more eggshell around beans (Not doing much in garden today as worried about more bites...ankles still hideous).
*Washed hair & dried naturally to save using dryer & straighteners.
*Campsite availability confirmed so sort final booking & note costs.
Last night, we decided to sort out a few days camping & a short cheap break later in Autumn. Had to smile at the difference in priorities.....I had my day book, pencil & calculator for noting tariffs, working out overall costs, factoring in additional costs like food/petrol, etc. Mr f's key priorities were: Walking distance to pub & what beers are on draught, what breakfasts are available at the cafe (with particular emphasis on SIZE of breakfast).....in fact, when I popped out of the room & returned, he had individual menus up on screen as had discovered a pub near campsite with a wood fired pizza oven so was checking out actual pizza toppings & pannini fillings!!! Managed to get him back to Planet Sensible with promise of beer & pizza money IF campsite otherwise affordable, available & the sort of thing we want. Looks like it'll be fine & loads cheaper than booking a holiday cottage.
Right, lunchtime for me, then on with the job list.
Best wishes to everyone today,

Afternoon all!
DNMS - thinking of you and your dd
Foxgloves - Mr F has it sooo right
Had a nice evening yesterday just chilling out with OH.
OH in work this evening though. Boooooo.
Today's mission:
Charge phone in work
Check online banking. Moved another £3 to savings
B/L/D from stores
Might do some overtime, work very busy and I'm a man down on my team
Another NSD yesterday and will repeat today :A
Checked the internet wifi thing. Works fantastic. I rang to cancel Vodafone dongle and after a long time, got told I must do it online. So I will do that now.
Tend to garden. Getting obsessive about checking for slugs all evening yet they still get at my squash. Coffee grounds appear to be helping a bit as there were some trails that got halfway through then turned round again but now the little b@st@rds are after my strawberries
Simple one from me today. have a good one all xxLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Hi everyone,
Thanks for starting us off DNMS, how much do the recycling company owe you? Is it worth threatening to go through the small claims court? Hope your DD is better soon.
Josie - Hope the moving out & moving in go well.
Foxgloves - Hope you manage to book a nice break & keep Mr F in check!
Today I have/will:-- Making use of free water at work
- Food from stores
- Dinner from meal plan - HM spag bol from freezer
- Staying in for most of my lunch break to avoid spending, had to go buy shower gel & hay fever tablets from Superdrug though as DH is complaining the ones we get for free from his Dad aren't working - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/family/cheap-hayfever-remedies is useful to find a cheaper brand with the same active ingredient
- Log calories & exercise on free apps
- Checked postcode lottery & birthday bingo
- Heating off
- Check online banking & pray there is enough to get us through to payday without dipping into the overdraft again, we're going to have more vets bills this weekend of about £200
If the hotel we booked for Bournemouth doesn't come out until we arrive we'll be ok, but if it gets taken before we'll be in the red... - Re-evaluate if pet insurance would be better than self paying by getting some quotes
- Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
- Enter some comps
- Do some surveys
- Declutter & flylady
- Make use of TKD membership
- Try & de-stress a little!
