Just wanted to wish halight luck for later.

I have now got a date for my wisdom tooth extraction, which they failed to do (for still unknown reasons!) during my last op. They had managed to book me in for my birthday, but when I said that the lady was lovely and moved it straight away. So, next op is now 25th July. Can't wait to tell work, not!

Good morning.

DH doesn't work on Wednesday so we've been out to Dobbies for our free Dobbie Club coffee for June.

Not much else planned for today. I think I might have a tidy of a couple of cupboards, but generally take it easy.

I've enjoyed reading about all your relatives war time experiences.

I find family history endlessly interesting. I think our forbears did some amazing things. They are going about their normal day to day lives and a few months later they are in the middle of a war. It personalises history.

Halight, those Normandy pictures are stunning, but horrific too, all that destruction.

Well, after a good night's sleep feeling a little brighter than I did yesterday, and hubby is feeling better today too

As hubby is still on holiday I don't wish to be doing too many householdy jobs, so will just pop on the wm while he's out.

Later on I will be out in the garden planting out a lovely cheery coloured perennial that I bought yesterday.

Not sure what I 'll do after this, probably be reading up my frugal books trying to get inspired as our savings fund has been taking a hammering lately and I feel unsettled when it gets too low.

Morning all!
Quiet day today, yesterday had lunch with a friend, and went for a visit to my brothers friend with him last night. Dull but warm here, so 2 loads of washing blowing away, since DS finally cleared the floordrobe!
All the talk of servicemen got me reminiscing, my dad's dad was a POW in WW1, and as his dementia advanced he used to shout and swear at us in German, what a man he was!

Good luck Halight, positive vibes for this afternoon.

My ds3 is on his third day of the work experience at the posh hotel. He has had his fingers crossed that he meets a celebrity well yesterday he met Suzy Dent from Countdown, a kind of celebrity I suppose:rotfl: I think he was hoping for someone a bit more glamorous. He has been tired out this week, I think he is realising how hard work is.

I've contacted my brothers this morning to say we are just doing cards for birthdays and Christmas from now on. I've got four kids and stepson and five grandchildren to buy for plus mum and dad and hubbies mum and dad. It's just too many to buy for, I'm a bit worried about the reactions but one sister in law has already text back saying she totally understands so I'm hoping I get the same reaction from the others. It seems I'm always the one to rock the boat but needs must, they don't know our financial situation and that this is the only option for us. What do the rest of you. Do, am I being tight?

Tea tonight will be leftover chicken made into a curry with rice and naans. It's my stepsons little boys second birthday today so at a tea party there later. We don't have the best relationship long story but I shall bite my tongue.

No word from either of the jobs I've applied for but think the closing dates are only just coming up. Shall go and have a look if there is anything else I can apply for.

No, I don't think you are being tight at all; I admire you for contacting them all.

I have been feeling that we need to scale back on the present giving, especially for the neices and nephews who are now working and earning more money than my husband. Especially when we don't get thank yous which is a pet peeve of mine.

Not much for me to add today except i'm ill. Blinding headache and I was sick numerous times in the night. Ive spent most of the morning in bed and that's where I will be going again shortly.

Ive got 3 series of Game of Thrones to catch up on. My son and daughter were talking about it the weekend and I decided to find out what it was all about yesterday and i'm hooked!

As for now, i'll just be content to go back to bed. Not sure what to do for tea. To be honest I don't think I ought to be allowed anywhere near food in case I make hubby and son ill but if I don't cook something, son will eat cereal and hubby will eat sandwiches (again).

:bdaycake:Happy Birthday to ttftm's DD and ten years to go DS, it is one of our nephew's birthday today as well so that makes the 3

DD went in to work today to find out that 40 stores where shut yesterday with no notice :eek: Dunstable, Woking and Maidenhead are the only three left, she has only been there 5 weeks So she is looking around for another job, she has got one in the pipeline, but I won't say anymore in case it jinxes her.

Gave the washing machine a good clean out yesterday with some zoflora and scrubbed the drawer out and it smells so much better, I hate when the clothes start to smell funky, I try to do it every 6 weeks but because of the toesy situation, I am a couple of weeks behind . So I have been and collected all the washing that I can find and it is on the line and as it is very hot out there today so hopefully it will dry quickly.

No, you're being sensible. APart from the financial cost to the giver, its the practicalities of where to put all the presents for the receiver (or their mum ).

We only buy for nephews/neices up to 21, and my & DH's brothers get cards unless it has a 0 at the end. My 3 brothers & DH's parents also get a Floss-made Christmas cake.

Hi everyone not been about for a few days.

Halight I'm sure the Consultant will put your mind at ease this afternoon and your imagination can stop running wild for a few days!

Gosh it has been a bit mad over here with the G8 conference hullaballoo since Saturday. Thankfully the massive security, along with some rain, helped things pass off very peacefully. The most positive news I have heard is that a number of the 6,000 mainland police that were drafted in are considering coming back with their families for a holiday. They were mainly on duty in County Fermanagh which is a beautiful area of our country.

We got second bedroom completely redecorated over the weekend and new carpet layed today. King size bed arrives next week and that is hopefully all that is needed (redecoration wise) for another year or so.
