Ending tenancy as amicably as possible when you can no longer pay rent.

I don't know how HB works but your sums sound right, so I don't think you have too much to worry about
Why do you think you wouldn't get the rest of your deposit back? It may be worth fighting for this too as they can't just withhold it without good reason. Even if there is some damage you may still be entitled to some of the amount back. Try to make them pay it back to you rather than your ex as he should really pay at least half of the last rent, whether or not he lives there.
A small detail: I think your moving out date needs to be August 14, not 15
yes 14th.Just didn't want to rely on the deposit money "just in case".

An update and a question if anyone could help please.
The place I will be moving to is having renovation work done, I've found out that due to the nature of the work, there is no guaranteed date for me to move in, I had hoped it would be 4-6 weeks, but it could easily be twice as long - what do I advise my current landlord?
Should I just state this and then let them decide if they want to serve notice and then the eviction process?
I wanted to "be in control" and give them my months notice but I don't see how I can do that if I don't have a definite leaving date yet. Or can I give my notice with no leaving date to be able to give to them.
As much as I don't want to mess them about, I don't want to be evicted before my new place is available to me.
Any advice hugely appreciated.0
