Haven Lakeland - anyone been? Or live nearby?

Hi
I've managed to get a cheap deal at Haven Lakeland, so me and the kids are off for a budget holiday. The kids will be happy with the entertainment on park, but is there anywhere cheap to eat nearby? We discovered a fab pub just outside Cala Gran on our last day there last year, where we all ate for less than £10:D so hoping someone will have some insider knowledge of Lakeland.
I've looked at reviews, and apparently there's no decent supermarket nearby? Which just means I'll take what we need with us, but being able to pop out for a cheap meal once or twice would be handy too (it's my holiday too, after all :rotfl:)
Thanks

Don't know the area that well, but if you google for pubs in Flookburgh there looks to be a choice of several.
It's just over a mile so you might not want to walk it though0 -
There's a reasonable chip shop in Flookburgh and a few pubs.
If you've got a car there's a few places in Grange over Sands, the Chinese is quite nice but we had terrible service in the Indian restaurant one time so I'd advise to avoid that.
Not sure there's many places that do cheap offers, there aren't many chain places around. It tends to be independent shops, pubs and restaurants in the area.0 -
We went a couple of years ago, the restaurant on site isn't to expensive and it's quite nice too, there was a supermarket on site although as you'd expect quite expensive. There's also a fish and chip shop on site which was nice.
there's and farm next door which is nice to visit with the kids has a nice indoor play area.
The site is very isolated even in the nearby village there isn't much maybe a couple of pubs etc but you would need to drive.
It's a lovely site for a quiet break with the kids.***** on the road to debt freedom *****

Thanks all for the info - a nice quiet break with the kids is exactly what I want - I'm 4 months pregnant with twins and don't have the energy to do much, TBH! I'm taking the car, so am happy to drive shortish distances, so Grange-over-Sands might be an option.
Thanks for all the help:o0 -
I live fairly close to haven. So here's my thoughts
Supermarkets. Nearest Asda or Morrisons is Kendal (15 miles)
Nearest tesco is Barrow
Nearest Sainsburys is Lancaster
Nearest Booths (small local chain on a par with waitrose) is Ulverston.
Asda & Tesco both deliver to the site.
But in Grange you have a Co-op and Spar, you also have three butchers, a bakers and a greengrocer. So we only tend to buy staple stuff from supermarkets and get all our meat, veg and bread locally.
In grange there is also two Chinese takeaways, Indian (avoid), Lots of cafes including a couple of crackers. Two pubs one just changed hands other rubbish (commodore)
In Flookburgh you have two pubs, a great chippy and a small village store
In Allithwaite you have two pubs (the pheasant is great and would recommend)
In Cartmel you have 4 pubs plus a couple of very expensive foodie places (l'enclune - 2 Michelin stars.) a great bakers and cheese shop.
Cark also has two pubs and a small londis
But all of the pubs pretty much independent so no cheap chain rubbish nearest ones are kendal and Bowness.
There is a free bus from the site to Lots of local attractions and Cartmel (south lakes free rider) and there should be plenty of vouchers for the main attractions (kids go free on the steamers, aquarium, world of Beatrix potter, lakeside & Haverthwaite )
Also offers for south lakes wild animal park family for £20.
Close to the site you have Duckys Park Farm about. 1/4 mile down the road and Holker Hall & Gardens - kids go free both you can get two via the free bus.
My must do's on a budget.
Holme Ice Cream Farm - cracking ice cream free to look at the animals and play area
Fell Foot Park - free If members of NT otherwise you have to pay to park.
Dock Museum Barrow - free great for a wet day
Cartmel Park great for a walk or a bike ride my kids can spend hours playing in the woods and the streams free bar parking but that can be avoided by using the free bus.
Brockhole near Ambleside - free bar Parking and you can get a leaflet for free parking. Great adventure playground and walks if you use your vouchers wisely you could get a steamer from here. (Perfect days in the south lakes leaflet or other vouchers)
If you pick up a Lakeland attractions leaflet it has a number of vouchers for attractions. The futures bright the future is Ginger0
