Insurance for Living Overseas - anyone have any experience?

Hi - wonder if anyone can help me. I'm moving to China in August to live out there for at least a year teaching. I've been before so have experience of the normal holiday travel insurance, but I wonder if anyone has moved to another country permanently and has experience of the travel and health insurance and what companies offer it and what to look for. I've googled and I've checked on expat forums, but all that seems to come up are ad for insurance companies.

I've emailed a few tonight (China being such a different country you can't get a direct quote) but any personal experience would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Ask your employer: traditionally, your work unit was responsible for paying for any medical treatment that you needed. In any case, as a resident of China you will have access to insurance options that are not marketed in the UK.
