Legoland Windsor: Food places

Hello,
We are off to Legoland on Saturday (yep, seen the forecast, its meant to be June ::mad:, least the park wont be silly busy!!).
Can anyone recommend anywhere that isn't too expensive to eat on site or is it all overpriced carp and chips? We are staying near Heathrow for the night, so have the option to eat at the hotel. I am just trying to get an idea before we go.
Also, does anyone have any tips or ideas to get the best out of the weekend? I have got head for the far end of the park first, and buy refillable drinks.
Many thanks

Why don't you take a light lunch with you in a cool bag?
There is a Harvester just over a mile away or a Toby Carvery you could visit when you leave which may be cheaper than eating in your hotel, if you're driving of course
Carverys are cheaper when not going on a Sunday!
Have a great time.0 -
Thankyou.
We are planning on taking a picnic and using electric coolbox (plug in at hotel overnight) and lots ice packs to be able to take one for second day as well. Carvery sounds awesome as keep kids and mummy happy (hmm...veggies
). Will aim for that then I think. Seems most sensible.
Not sure whos more excited...me or the kids!!“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. I always find the best time to go is when the forecast is not good as the park is a lot quieter. My tips would be to get disposable plastic ponchos/rain macs from the poundshop so you are prepared if the weather is bad and it also saves you getting soaked on water rides.
The food is not very good in the park, so would take a picnic with you which you could eat when the show is on, to save wasting time. As you say buy an unlimited drinks refillable cup and bring some disposable cups with you to decant the drinks into for the family.
Get to the park before it opens as they start letting people through the barrier about 20 minutes before the opening time and then wait by the barriers and run to the back of the park (ignoring smaller rides) to get the popular rides that will have huge waiting times later on done first.0 -
I think Toby Carvery is 3-4 miles away so a lil further than Harvester but totally worth it

Are you going to Legoland for two days?
It's a little bigger than i imagined so take comfy shoes (i live close by but only went for the first time recently!) - views are fantastic at the top when you walk in!0 -
We are the typical "rain, what rain" type family, and me and the kids have packamacs and waterproof trousers!I always find the best time to go is when the forecast is not good as the park is a lot quieter. We are going in for Saturday and Sunday, doing the free kids weekend. Planning on doing the rides we want to on Saturday, miniland and any rides the kids want to do again/couldnt get on on the Sunday.
Thanks all, keep the tips coming! Much appreciated“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what. Arrive as early as you can and stay as late as you can is my big tip, we usually get there for opening and go straight to Laser raiders (walk don't wait for the train down the hill) or boating school or Atlantis or whatever they most want to do that attracts big queues lol! then usually head from there to the Dragon and do that then whatever they fancy in the middle of the day (the pirate playground is great and also the xbox play area is under cover and often gets overlooked as it is not very obvious but is a nice place to duck into for a little break.
We find the crowds start to thin a lot after 3pm or so as people leave to get little ones home or start long journeys and the queues go down loads so we then "mop up" the rides we haven't got to yet.
As you will have two days you will be able to enjoy the 4d cinema etc as well without trying to cram it all in.
There are lockers at the start of the park which are handy (not many of them though!).
Also use the loos further into the park before you leave as the ones at "the beginning" have long queues at closing time and are not the cleanest lol.
If it is a wet day expect the queues for the under cover rides to be big and slow xx0 -
Fab top tips, and will be used. Thankyou mum26.

Thank you for all your suggestions, we are off there next month and travelling up from Wales. What time does the park actually shut? we don't mind travelling back late as plan to stick pjs on the kids and they can sleep in the car on the way back. We can't stay overnight as have plans following day. The plan is to get there upon opening and leave when it shuts. It's a school day when we go so hoping the park won't be so busy. Well here's hoping. But hoping anything we miss during the day due to queues we can hit later on before park closes. Kids are very excited x'There are far better things ahead Than any we leave behind '0

It depends what day you're going - 5, 6 or 7pm

Can I just thank everyone who contributed to this thread. We have just got back from a very tiring but massively fun weekend. So glad we had 2 days in the park though. Saturday was pretty quiet so we did loads, and left at 630, today got there at 10 and left at 330. Did everything we wanted to, and loads else, took everyone's advice re lockers, toilets Toby Carvery etc and had a fab weekend. Kids building lego models as I type!!
Always after a bargain, get there no later than 945, have a regimented plan of where you want to go and what you want to see (and head straight to the most important one) promise the kids nothing in particular as certain rides are very very busy, take your own lunch and have a fun time.
Thanks again everyone, and I hope other readers get advice from this as well.“Listen earnestly to anything your children want to tell you, no matter what.
